Marriage Moment from Susan Vogt

"Let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth." (1Jn 3:18) Saying "I love you" is good. Being true to your words is better. Showing your love by doing something nice or sacrificing for your beloved is true love. What act of love can you do today?

Client Assistance Print E-mail

Our Social Concerns Coordinator is available during regular office hours to provide emergency assistance and referrals to those in need in the community, whether parishioners, daily lunch guests, or citizens of Metro Louisville.  The following assistance is provided regularly:

  • ID Vouchers are given out on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 9:00 a.m.  Funds are available for 25 ID vouchers each month.  It is advised to call ahead before each ID date to place your name on a waiting list.  Only one ID voucher may be given out to an individual in his/her life.
  • Small amounts of emergency assistance funds are available for parishioners and residents of the 40202 zip code.  Please contact the parish office at (502) 582-2971 ext. 5219 to receive more information.
  • If you are not in the 40202 zip code but need emergency assistance, please contact the parish office at (502) 582-2971 ext. 5219 for referrals to other agencies.

If you are stranded in Louisville, have been here less than 30 days, and need assistance with a Greyhound Bus ticket, please contact Traveler’s Aid at (502) 540-2612 or visit their office at 410 W. Chestnut Street.

The Cathedral does not have a food pantry.  In order to obtain information about your nearest food pantry, please contact Dare To Care Food Bank at (502) 966-3821.

For a more thorough listing of social services provided in Louisville Metro, please check out Louisville Street Tips, produced by the Louisville Coalition for the Homeless.

Traveler's Aid

Traveler's Aid provides one-time assistance with stranded individuals and families, usually through Greyhound.  When the agency has funds, their policy (to the best of my knowledge) has been to provide a free bus ticket one time to an individual over 65, with a disability, or with children, or to offer a discount to other individuals.  People must have a contact at their end destination whom they can contact by phone and who can confirm that the individual/family has a place to stay when they arrive.
