Saturday, August 16th

10:30 am - 5:30 pm (use of air conditioned space from 11:30 am - 3:30 pm)

Come out for a day of fun and fellowship as we celebrate our feast day at the Louisville Zoo!  This popular, annual event has been a staple at our parish for many years and this year’s venue will be fun for the whole family.  Join us as we celebrate together and build community in our parish.  Regular visitors and new members are all welcome!

Suggested cost for tickets - $20 for adults (ages 12+) and $15 for children (ages 4-11), free for children ages 3 and younger.  Ticket includes: admission to the zoo, free parking, indoor buffet lunch, 2 animal presentations, and unlimited rides on the carousel and train.  The day’s activities will also include scavenger hunts, zoo bingo, walking tours, and plenty of free time to wander and view the animals.

Tickets will be available in the back of church beginning the weekend of July 26-27th.  You can also receive tickets by mailing in a check to the parish office (made out to “Cathedral of the Assumption” and indicating “Feast Day Fest” on the memo line).  Once the check is received, we will mail tickets to you.

in St. Louis Hall

Come to welcome visitors from our sister parish in Haiti as well as members of Tek4kids staff.  Topics for discussion revolve around ongoing and planned water and computer technology projects in St. Theresa Montessori and other schools in the area.

Tek4Kids, Inc. (Gary and Cathy Boice’s nonprofit) uses education and technology to break the poverty cycle in Haiti.  They provide existing schools in Haiti with clean water, electricity, computers and teachers.  Children share clean water with their families, reducing instances of cholera and waterborne illnesses. Students that receive computer skills from the Tek4Kids program will be able to find much more advanced jobs despite the high unemployment rate in the area. To learn more about Tek4Kids, visit

Weddings Print E-mail

The Cathedral of the Assumption provides a beautiful space for the wedding liturgies of parishioners and other members of parishes in the Archdiocese.  Weddings are scheduled on Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m., Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. or Saturday afternoons at 2:30 p.m.  At least one member of the wedding party, either bride or groom, must be a practicing Roman Catholic for the wedding to take place at the Cathedral of the Assumption.

The services provided for all weddings include

  • Use of the worship space
  • Organist
  • Cantor
  • Altar Server
  • Wedding Assistant

The Cathedral staff assists those preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage by offering a Wedding Workshop four times per year.  These liturgy-planning sessions help the couple with music selection and ceremony planning.

The Archdiocese of Louisville requires a 6-month preparation period for couples seeking marriage.  All couples are required to complete the FOCCUS Instrument (pre-marriage inventory) and one form of a marriage preparation program
