Grand Finale! 25th Annual Desserts Desserts Festival
On May 31, 2013, we will be holding our last Desserts Festival.  Come and help us again raise money for the House of Ruth which cares for families and individuals with or affected by HIV/AIDS.  We are exploring new ways to raise money for this good cause, but in the meantime, please come and support this fun event one last time.  We will be offering desserts from area restaurants, caterers and bakeries, and homemade soup.  Help in picking up desserts and in working at the event would be greatly appreciated.  Volunteers please call the church office at 582-2971 or Pat Hagerty at 897-3603.

Also, auction items are needed. Here's a partial wish list: time in a vacation home, houseboat or cabin~ personal shopper or personal chef services~ outdoor living furniture~ hot air balloon rides~ home entertainment equipment~ fine wines~a foursome at Valhalla or other member-only club~ private tennis or golf lessons~ luggage.  This is, by no means, an exhaustive list. We hope to have a wide variety of items. As you prayerfully discern how you can help the Feed My Neighbor initiative, let this serve as inspiration.  Do you have or would you be able to obtain an item for auction? Deadline for item commitments is Monday, June 3. If you have questions or wish to donate, please contact Judith Youngblood, auction chair, at 502-262-1622 or judith.youngblood@gmail.com.

Vows
The Cathedral of the Assumption provides a beautiful space for the wedding liturgies of parishioners and other members of parishes in the Archdiocese.  Weddings are scheduled on Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m., Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. or Saturday afternoons at 2:30 p.m.  At least one member of the wedding party, either bride or groom, must be a practicing Roman Catholic for the wedding to take place at the Cathedral of the Assumption.

The services provided for all weddings include

  • Use of the worship space
  • Organist
  • Cantor
  • Altar Server
  • Wedding Assistant

The Cathedral staff assists those preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage by offering a Wedding Workshop four times per year.  These liturgy-planning sessions help the couple with music selection and ceremony planning.

The Archdiocese of Louisville requires a 6-month preparation period for couples seeking marriage.  All couples are required to complete the FOCCUS Instrument (pre-marriage inventory) and one form of a marriage preparation program
