Track 12 – Vaulted Ceiling

The ribs of the vaulted ceiling are painted gray and ivory outlined in gold leaf.  Notice the ornate woodcarvings or bosses at the intersections of the ribs.  The bosses were originally installed as a means for ventilation into the attic.  Over the middle aisle there are two smaller bosses; the letters IHS stands for the name of Jesus Christ in Greek; VM stands for Virgo Maria, Virgin Mary in Latin.
